Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) has proven to the best and most functional form of combat. Developed in Brazil, BJJ focuses on grappling and ground fighting. It is considered a combat sport and a self-defence system that uses submission holds, joint locks and choke holds to subdue the opponent. It is a very effective style in which a fighter can use little to no strength to subdue a much larger opponent.
Want to get in shape and maintain fitness? BJJ training is more rigorous than many other martial arts, owing to the intensely physical nature of grappling. A typical session includes cardiovascular training, stretching and a resistance workout.
Do you want to be part of a winning team and build lasting friendships? When you train martial arts you’ll instantly make friends. You can’t learn BJJ by yourself. You need someone’s arm to perfect your arm bar. Basically with BJJ, you can choke out your best friends - pretty sweet deal.
Martial arts gives you the confidence to accomplish anything you set your mind to. With BJJ, no other sport puts you in positions where you have to overcome size, strength, keep cool under stress whilst planning your strategy.
No Gi is grappling without the traditional uniform, instead you wear shorts and a rash guard. In no gi you cannot grab your opponent’s clothing. To be a complete BJJ player, you should train in both. Marcelo Garcia is a good example of a BJJ player that is world class in both.
Gi Jiu Jitsu is grappling with the use of a traditional Gi, which allows you to grab the clothing of your opponent. The Gi in some ways is more complex with all the grips and relies more on technique than strength and athleticism.
This is a 2 hour session Gi Jiu Jitsu session with a higher emphasis on rolling and perfecting techniques in live sparring. You also have plenty of opportunity to develop your game through drilling.
For those looking to develop their game further we offer private tution from any of our experienced instructors. Our Instructors can cover any aspect for your BJJ game from beginners through to more advanced practitioners.
